Movin On with Eileen Carey

Sometimes you get to listen to music you would never have bought or listened to if not someone else had brought it to your attention. Eileen Carey's Movin On is like that for me. The album's genre is country/pop, which is part of the reason it is unlikely I would have ever heard of the album if my good friend Joey Alkes had not brought it to my attention.

Eileen Carey is a stranger to the European music scene. That's a pity, since she would definitely be able to build a fanbase over here. Movin On contains honest, simple music that is easy on the ears. What's also easy on the ears is Eileen's voice: it goes strikingly well with the genre. Movin On is a well crafted album that I am sure will grace many music collections all over the world.

For those that don't know her, Carey is a "Best Female Vocalist" winner at the 2007 South Bay Music Awards. Movin On has won the "Americana Album of the Year" at the 2009 Los Angeles Music Awards and also "Dance Single of the Year 2010" with "Out with the Girls", which is the 7th song on the album.

Movin On starts off with an upbeat hit single called "That Was Her This Is Now". If moving on is the album's theme, this song fits it perfectly! It is one of the more upbeat songs on the album, which holds five upbeat songs and four slower songs.

Track list:

To be perfectly honest, the album had to grow on me. On the other hand, it has: what really did it for me is listening to it with some good quality headphones and the correct equalizer settings.
The album snugly fits into the country genre with its collection of country easy-listening tunes.

I can't wait to hear Eileen's voice on a real pop-rock album. I wonder what her next album will bring...
